Exciting client & partner developments, a growing team, a brand new free version of FrenalyticsEDU — and lots more!

Happy fall! Summer went by in the blink of an eye, and before you know it, we’ll be celebrating the holidays and gearing up for 2023.

On a personal note: For those regularly following my updates, you may know I typically post these quarterly — my sincere apologies for not sharing these with you sooner. Hug your loved ones a little extra for me, find some time for fun, and — as my cofounder Chris says, embrace the chaos, so long as it’s controlled. 😆

Before we bundle up for winter, let’s look back at what Team Frenalytics accomplished these past few months! Our personalized learning software is reaching new heights — let’s jump right into it:

First, the highlights:

Frenalytics Free: Worthy of a Perfect 💯 Grade

In August, we unveiled the largest change to our company since we launched Frenalytics back in 2018 — drumroll please…

Introducing Frenalytics Free, our all-new 100% free version of FrenalyticsEDU that’s perfect for teachers in inclusion, self-contained and ABA classrooms!

With Frenalytics Free, teachers can:

  • 📚 Access our library of life skills, math & reading content for all abilities,
  • 🧑‍🎓 Create 10 student profiles, and
  • 🧠 Run a daily Learning Session for each student,

In the first few months since its launch, over 120 teachers from 30+ states and 4 countries have enrolled in Frenalytics Free

Frenalytics Joins MassChallenge 2022 Early Stage Accelerator

In Q2, the Frenalytics team was ecstatic to announce our acceptance to the prestigious MassChallenge 2022 Early Stage accelerator. This highly competitive program — only 8% of companies were accepted! — ran from July to November, and it equipped our team with a number of invaluable resources, including MassChallenge’s vast sponsor and partner network, accomplished mentors, beautiful office space in downtown Boston, access to highly ambitious startup founders, and fundraising know-how, to name a few.

Frenalytics will also be applying to several US Early Stage Awards, each offering $50,000; winners are announced in early 2023. Wish us luck! 🤞🏼

Frenalytics Gets a Fresh Coat of Paint

Two designs from our new user interface (UI) overhaul, scheduled to complete in early 2023.

Much of our UI hasn’t been updated since we introduced our new navigation and upgraded Therapy Session experience back in 2019. Out with the old, in with the new!

Meet our new look and feel for FrenalyticsMED and FrenalyticsEDU: modern, sleek, and — perhaps most importantly — meeting WCAG Level AA standards for website accessibility and complying with Level AAA standards whenever possible.

In Q2, we released our new Login, Activate Account, Forgot Password, and Reset Password pages. In Q4, we’ll be introducing our new Patient/Student Search Screen, Staff Search, Create New Patient/Student, and Create New Staff screens; the remaining areas will wrap up early next year.

Customer Support Upgrades

It’s no secret that we like to do things differently at Frenalytics, and customer support is no exception. That’s why we’re excited to introduce the following during Q2 and Q3:

  • New onboarding experience, powered by Intercom. With the launch of Frenalytics Free, we worked directly with teachers to create a custom onboarding process that helps new ones learn the basics of FrenalyticsEDU at a pace that’s just right. Here’s a preview:
  • AI-driven phone support, powered by Slang.ai. For our users looking for some extra help or to get pointed to the right resource, our new phone line is just the tool for them. Our friendly bot responds to common inquiries like, “How do I get started?” and “I didn’t get an email after signing up.” Give it a try! Call us anytime: (877) 977–0958
  • Expert live chat, provided by Intercom and powered by Team Frenalytics. Talking to a real person is not only a nice touch, it’s sometimes necessary. That’s why the same team who makes Frenalytics is now here for you around-the-clock over live chat! Start a new chat from our Help Center or by clicking the chat bubble in the bottom-right corner on any page within Frenalytics.

Promoted Team Members

New titles, familiar faces: (re)meet our Lead Engineer Dejan (left), Lead Product Designer Caitlyn (middle), and Staff Software Engineer Robert (right).

Lots of exciting team changes happened this summer — please help us congratulate:

  • Dejan (left) on joining Frenalytics full-time as our Lead Engineer, and our first international employee!
  • Caitlyn (center) on being promoted to full-time Lead Product Designer!
  • Robert (right) on being promoted to Staff Software Engineer!

Fun with Life Skills at Backyard Players

Photos from our “Making it Stick” event at Backyard Players on Long Island, NY in June. Jake (center photo) is a Backyard Players (BYP) participant who volunteered at the event.

In June 2022, in partnership with our friends at Backyard Players, we hosted a free event for parents, teachers, and community members on Long Island, NY, called Making it Stick: See How Personalized Learning Software Reinforces Life Skills for All Abilities

Backyard Players & Friends is an inclusive, arts-based community program serving Long Island in several locations throughout my hometown of Rockville Centre, NY. The non-profit — established in 2015 — is dedicated to giving every person a space to share ideas and experience openness, joy and creativity.

BYP participants helped us demonstrate how FrenalyticsEDU can be used for school-age students and adults alike with unique needs to reinforce important life skills and academic concepts, like hygiene, telling time, reading comprehension, money, and familial relationships. Special thanks to Jake for volunteering!

Summer Intern Program

A (very special!) Frenalytics Team Lunch on Boston College’s campus, featuring former and current interns: Aidan (Summer ’21), Erin (Summer + Fall ‘22), Megan (Summer ‘22), Brennan (Spring ‘22), and John (Summer + Fall ’20, Spring ‘21)

In Q2, we began our third annual Summer Intern Program — meet the 5 new students and one returning intern who joined us for virtual meetings and in-person events!

  • Alexa: Joining us as a rising junior at Boston College (BC), Alexa explored the world of both content and growth marketing through writing blogs, researching outreach strategies, onboarding new users for Frenalytics Free, and presenting on her findings with the entire Frenalytics team.
  • Ava: A high school sophomore from New York returning from our Spring 2022 program, Ava leveraged her unique skillset and background as a student with an IEP to interview our team members for an upcoming blog series, research EdTech tools for special ed, and provide feedback to improve our FrenalyticsEDU offering for fellow students.
  • Erin: A junior at BC studying Biology and Marketing, Erin joined our marketing team to research, write, and publish a series of research-based articles on our blog. Erin also interviewed our team and researched the EdTech industry as a part of product research with our lead product designer Caitlyn, to improve the user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) of Frenalytics.
  • Megan: A fellow BC Eagle entering her sophomore year, Megan took on a sales internship with us, where she learned the ins-and-outs of our customer relationship management (CRM) software Close, as well as how to classify, cultivate, and onboard leads as they become users & paying customers. Along with Erin, she also co-wrote our first-ever collaborative intern blog post in support of Disability Pride Month.
  • Slok: Also a rising junior at BC studying computer science, Slok completed online tutorials to learn C#, .NET, SQL, Visual Studio, SQL Server, and Swagger — all from scratch. With our lead engineer Dejan’s help, he also built sample API endpoints and database schema, and wrote a range of SQL statements to manipulate sample data.
  • Sohil: Joining us from Virginia Tech as a rising senior, Sohil took his majors of computer science and human-computer interaction (HCI) and combined them with a newfound passion for UI/UX design. With this, he developed and executed a series of research initiatives alongside Caitlyn — including a complete overhaul of our signup process, which we launched alongside Frenalytics Free!

Happy Hour for a Cause

In late June, Team Frenalytics — and a few of our interns from the Summer 2022 Intern Program — got together in New York City for a happy hour fundraiser in support of Best Buddies New York, an international non-profit with a local chapter that offers 1-to-1 friendship, employment, and leadership development programs for individuals with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities.

We got to meet their team and hear stories from a few Buddies on a beautiful rooftop in the Upper East Side — a win-win-win!

Frenalytics in the News 📰

In early June, I was interviewed by Patch editor Jerry Barmash on Patch AM Long Island. Take a look at the full interview below:

In July, editor Briana Bonfiglio featured Frenalytics and interviewed me for July’s edition of the Long Island Press. In this article, Briana looked back on our family-focused founding story and highlighted our exciting growth in recent months both on Long Island and beyond. 2022 Goals Check

At the end of 2021, we published some goals for the year ahead, and we checked in on our progress at the end of 2022 Q1. Here’s where we stand as we near the end of the year:

  • Sales & Marketing: We launched Frenalytics Free, our new EDU Essentials and EDU Extras plans at teacher-friendly prices, and fully automated our signup & onboarding processes. Not an easy feat — and thanks to our amazing team, we did it all on schedule! 😍
  • Growth: Though a Growth Marketing Specialist hire we made in Q3 didn’t work out, we’re still heavily focused on scaling new signups of Frenalytics Free and growing our social media presence across our 5 active channels. In addition, our Intern Program entered its third summer with 6 incredible students joining us for our most productive cohort yet. We’ll check in at the end of Q4 with more growth progress on FrenalyticsEDU, FrenalyticsMED, and outcomes from our Fall Intern Program. 📈
  • Team Collaboration: We’ve kicked it into full gear with team-wide use of Notion, Slack, Google Meet, and more. We also have more Lunch & Learns and other remote and in-person team events planned in the coming months — if you have any suggestions for fun ideas, send them my way! 🎮🧑🏼‍🏫

Thanks as always for reading — we truly appreciate your support. We’ll be back at the holidays with end-of-year updates!
